Showing New Work This Weekend in L.A.

Join us for an evening of ARTE, LIVE MUSICA Y MAS as we honor the very roots and practices of ritualistic celebrations associated with Dia de Los Muertos. The works in this exhibition are based on varied ideas and explorations surrounding both traditional and non-traditional definitions/ dimensions of death. Through the presentation of an array of mediums ranging from printmaking, photography, and painting, to mixed media installations and more, the participating artists seek to perhaps re-invent, challenge, and create works which build upon traditional foundations, yet push beyond previously established visions. Our work shall address and expand upon personal, cultural, social, political, and religious interpretations and discoveries of this local and international feast.

***PLEASE NOTE: The gallery is located downstairs of the BISCAILUZ BUILDING at El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument (Olvera Street.)

I have the pleasure of teaching a brilliant art student. Aleksandr T. discovered his drawing talent less than a month ago while taking my graphic design class. His talent is actually freakish because he naturally understands shadows, light and design. His first drawing was phenomenal. In 3 short weeks, Aleksandr drew without fear and created some amazing images. I entered him in a Van’s Shoe art show which he was selected for and won one of the top awards for the show.
